painted a new painting

One more painting. I am tryingt o make my paintings a little more intimate.

Another New Painting

I have painted yet another painting. I am trying to get a few done for the show because one of the larger ones is not going. It was painted over old painting that was never finished and the image is coming through the new painting. I figured i should leave it out since it does not look the way I want it too. Just a reminder I have a show coming up in several weeks. It is at the Arts Association in marblehead. It will be up the whole month of September and the opening will be on the 12th. I hope all can make it.

New Painting

Did a new painting. I like it, it didn't take me too long, and it can go in my show! Is there a better kind of painting? I don't think so. Also did some minor edits the the painting of Noah and the painting of Dean and Kachina. My show is coming up soon, September 12. I feel like I still have so much to do!

Working hard

My apologies for taking so long to post these paintings. I have been painting, however I have also been working 11 and 12 hour days so my time has been very limited to do much else. These paintings are not done yet. Two are signed, however the more I look at them, the more problems I am seeing, so I plan on going back into them in the next few days. The painting of Ben and Liza is not even close to done. I am having some issues with that painting. I put this new image over an old painting and the old painting is coming through the new one. I think varnish may solve the problem at the end of the painting, but i guess we will just have to hope and pray that it is as simple as that.

Starts and Finishes

So I have been Trying to do some work. I have not been able to do any painting really this week because I put everything off to do painting last week. I did get a painting done this morning though, my new one of ben. The unfinished painting is really big, but the other three are not that large.

On A Roll!!

So I am on a Roll with these new paintings. I have been doing at least one a day. People are started to see them and wanting me to do one of them, I guess I need to start carrying around my camera where ever I go incase I run into anyone. I think I like the one of my mother the best so far. The one of Chris is really nice to, but it does not look as good in the photo as in real life. Things blend together nicer in the real painting. I finished the one of my mother. It is the biggest one I have so far. I just got a 36x60 canvas though, so it will not be the biggest for long. I think I got a 30x40 too so I will be busy for a while. I love getting new canvases, it is like getting endless possibilities.

Finally!!!

So I FINALLY had my break through which I have been waiting for. I had been getting so down on my self artistically that I was even wondering if I made the right choice about going to art school. Suddenly those college adds on TV look like a good idea, know what I mean? But either way I finally did what I have been trying to do for over a year now. I think my problem was that I was too scared of screwing up up and for a long time I think I didn't really know exactly what it was that I was after but non the less my paintings look totally different than they did just three days ago. I am slowly abandoning the rat idea. My paintings are more about inner struggle, which in the example of me personally can be fear but it is really different for every person. But I am showing their inner struggle through their faces. I am continuing with the beat up look and introducing cuts and whatnot to their faces as well. I am on a roll, I have completed two pieces, almost completed a third ( I am waiting for paint to dry) and half down with a fourth. the good news is that they do not take me to long. If all goes well I can get them done in just several hours. I am hoping that I am able to get a bunch done so that my show can be just these paintings.

Trying to pull it together

So I have been trying to get my stuff together and try and get some art work done. i did a drawing but I am not sure if it is done yet even though I signed it. I also started a painting of my friend Liza. I am going to make her face bruised...sorry Liza

New Drawing

So I have been doing these drawings that are a little illustrative, which I try not to do normally, but everyone says that I should push the illustrative aspects to my drawings so I thought why the hell not. So these are two drawings that I have completed that are illustrative, and yes there are more rats. I am going to continue to do several more this way. I am really enjoying the different textures and patterns of the clothes, so I am going to find some interesting clothes to use. I am thinking my tacky flower dresses that have cool tacky flowers on them and if I really feel like torturing myself a large knit sweater or scarf.

Life gets in the way

So do not fear, I do not fear I have not been slacking on my art or anything, but as we all know life has gotten in the way of the creative presses. I have had to work a lot and do some basic things around my house such as tend to my four animals and clean my room so that I have some walking space. But I have been painting and some drawing, I worked on my large painting that I hate of Tommy and I also worked on my new one of me looking in the mirror. I would be working on that right now if It were not for the fact that I do not have good light in my studio when night comes. oh well I guess I will just have to wait till morning to continue working on my painting.

Animals...why not?

so for some reasons I can not seem to help painting the strange animal pictures we have at the studio for the kids to paint. We have tons of old animal pictures that for some reason never get picked by the little ones and I for some reason have had the uncontrollable urge to paint them. This started with the frog and has now moved onto hippos, water birds and most recently rams and even stranger pointy frogs. i have however also started a new larger painting continuing on with the rat theme. I have been thinking about doing paintings of everyday activities in which my rats will be present. This is to show that no matter where I go, or what I am doing, they are always there waiting to be bothersome. I am hoping it turns out well, however I am not really feeing it yet. I apologize for my photographs they did not come out so well this time.

More Drawings but now sick

So as it turns out I woke up very ill on monday. I blame this on Chris. So I took this time to not only sleep, because being sick is very tiring, but I also did another drawing. it is more of me with rats. I did the drawing a little different than I normally do but I think it is cool and I plan on doing some more drawings just like this one.

Making up for Etching

Recently I decided that since I am not currently able to do printmaking because there is no space at my house for my press that I would do a lot of drawing until I can figure out my lack of etching situation. So Today in addition to stretching and preparing four canvases I did a large amount of pencil drawing. Above is a drawing I had started a little over a week ago and today I made some major progress on it. The piece is relatively large, and drawn on a oversized illustration board I found at the gallery. I have high hopes for this piece. I am still working through some small drawing issues which i have discovered such as the face being to wide but all will be repaired. I have intentions for also making a second drawing to match this one to hang together for my show in september.

Way to forget the computer

For those who do not know I am working on a very large painting of one of my students Tommy. For those who also don't know, I hate this painting but that is not the point. On Monday I forgot my computer, which I have an image on and I paint directly from. This absent minded move of mine turned into a happy accident and I instead decided to paint a silly image that I might be able to sell during the arts festival that the town has in July. In the end I loved the little painting so much I am going to keep it. It will forever be mine little frog in the flower!

I took J-Mans advice

Hello All!  

So I took j-mans advice and I got a blog, not really sure how it all works but i guess I am going to figure that out.  This is a blog that will be used to show my art and talk about the art I am creating and thinking about.  Right now I have been continuing my Rat and fear series.  I also have a solo show coming up at the Marblehead Artists Association in September in the Emerging Artists Gallery on the second floor.  I also will be submitting Paintings into the arts festival this summer.  If all goes well you will be about to see my art hanging in the show there as well.
