My work has recently taken a 360. It stemmed from fear, however it is more about the inner struggle of an individual, which in my case is my fear. Ever person that walks this earth has inner pain and many try to hide it, but sometimes you can catch a second when their pain is shown on there face and through their eyes. Although my images appear quite violent they actually have nothing to do with violence. I use the beaten look to represent the wounded soul.

New Drawing

So I have been doing these drawings that are a little illustrative, which I try not to do normally, but everyone says that I should push the illustrative aspects to my drawings so I thought why the hell not. So these are two drawings that I have completed that are illustrative, and yes there are more rats. I am going to continue to do several more this way. I am really enjoying the different textures and patterns of the clothes, so I am going to find some interesting clothes to use. I am thinking my tacky flower dresses that have cool tacky flowers on them and if I really feel like torturing myself a large knit sweater or scarf.

  1. Lexi these are pretty amazing. I don't think I've seen your drawings proir to this, just your paintings and prints.
You seem unsure about the work illustrative. Don't be!!
They are great. Very stark, confident, and eerie. The cleaness of the image also makes them more bizarre. I especially love the one on the top. Joe Shea (I showed these to him) really likes the one on the bottom :) He says hi!
